Sandy began attending Harvest in 2001, then came on staff in 2002 with the worship ministry as the administrative assistant and as the director of the School of Music. She has a B.A. in English from the University of Illinois in Champaign-Urbana and an M.A. in Special Education from Northeastern Illinois University. Through Harvest she began to go on several short-term missions trips which sparked a passion for missions. From 2006-2008, she served as a missionary in China as an English teacher. After her time in China, she returned back to Harvest and served as the gospel choir director at Harvest, but she never lost her desire for mission work. In 2008, she began to work for Kirk VanMaanen as the director of short-term missions. At that time, neither of them knew where this road would lead. In 2009, she took her first short-term trip to Romania. It was not a place where she saw herself returning to, but God kept opening doors to go and visit and after three trips, she was hooked. With the growth of Harvest churches in Romania, an opportunity came up to move to Romania to assist the churches on a more regular basis and by June 2011, she had moved to Arad, Romania. She now serves as the HBF representative in Eastern Europe which has included a variety of duties such as training, church plant support, coordinating short-term teams and now includes helping Ionica Martonfi to launch the Central/Eastern Europe Training Center for church planting.
